Due to this name many people believe that this kata was developed to edward teach students how to fight against any attempt or any defense. yet the creation of Passai Sho is attributable to either Bushi Matsumura of Itosu. The Sho piece of writing of this kata has been called the meditation writing of the kata. There are two better versions of this kata; Passai Sho (Passai Minor) and Passai Dai (Passai Major). Passai has been one of the most favored kata in history. The credit for Passai Dai goes to Bushi Matsumura as state either the creator, or the person who brought it back to island from China.
